What is an executive coach?
The International Coach Federation (ICF), the leading global organization dedicated to advancing the coaching profession, defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”
Why should you work with a coach?
A coach gets you to take action by challenging your limiting beliefs and guides you to your best self.
Anyone who feels a gap between where they are and their full potential should work with a coach: entrepreneurs, executives, professionals, managers, small business owners, new graduates.
A coach is the solution if you want to:
Succeed in a new role
Prepare for my next role
Correct or engage my skill gaps
Get a team back on track
Improve employee engagement
A trusted sounding board
ICF states that "a growing number of organizations recognize the value in building a coaching culture that offers employees at all levels the opportunity to grow their skills, enhance their value and reach their professional goals."
And according to a 2018 study by ICF and Human Capital Institute, "77% of human resources practitioners and leaders report that their organization is in a state of constant change, with priorities and strategies continuously shifting."
A coach can help guide you to a goal and keep you on track.
"Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives - choice, not chance, determines your destiny."
HOW DOES COACHING WORK?
In contrast to a consultant, with a coach, the client sets the agenda and is responsible for the work. The coach acts as mentor, a guide, and someone you can trust to be truthful, transparent and usually brutally honest with feedback.
Knowledge of your industry is not necessary, as the work being done is focused on personal growth and leadership development.
Although KKBI has established standard coaching programs, each can be customized and tailored for each client based on their needs; however, to produce the best outcome, the basic process will remain (this applies to both private and corporate clients):
Coaching is done either in person, via Zoom, or phone, in whichever method is preferred by the client and possible based on area (travel time and mileage may apply).
All sessions and outcomes are confidential between coach and client.
Intake and Introduction
This step involves information collection, including, but not exclusive, to: establishing and clarifying personal, professional and business goals; current mindset; clarification of values; and understanding the coaching process and guidelines.
Each client will receive 360 Feedback from peers and supervisors, with information collected via interviews and an on-line questionnaire. Although responses are kept anonymous and confidential, a comprehensive report will be prepared and presented to the client with a summary of strengths and areas of opportunity to develop. If needed or desired, additional outside professional assessments will be performed.
Although progress and goal achievement is ultimately the responsibility of the client, goals, milestones, and progress will be charted and monitored, and the coaching process will provide the guide to stay on track.
